Wild Sauna Club now a British Sauna Society Approved Operator Member — here’s what that means for you
We have some news that we’re really proud of, and we wanted to share it properly rather than just slide it past you in a caption.
Wild Sauna Club is now an officially approved Operator Member of the British Sauna Society - and as far as we know, we were the first sauna provider in Leicestershire to hold this accreditation. (Possibly also Northamptonshire, but we’re not 100% sure on that one — we’ll take it either way!)
So what is the British Sauna Society?
The British Sauna Society (BSS) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to promote and develop sauna culture across the UK — making its physical, mental and social health benefits accessible to more people. They set the standards for how saunas in the UK should be built, operated and maintained, and they’re the closest thing the UK has to an official body for the industry.
They’re the people working hard to make sure that as the mobile sauna scene takes off around the country, it does so safely and with integrity.
What does Approved Operator Member actually mean?
It’s not just a badge you can buy. To become an approved operator, you have to demonstrate that your sauna meets the high standards set by the BSS — covering things like sauna builds, cleaning protocols, and general operating practices.
For Wild Sauna Club, that means our saunas, the way we run our sessions, and how we look after our guests have all been assessed and approved. It’s recognition that what we’re doing isn’t just fun (although it absolutely is) - it’s being done properly and safely.
