Wild Sauna Club Becomes a Founding Signatory of the UK Sauna Safety Charter
At Wild Sauna Club, we’ve always believed that sauna should not only feel restorative and joyful, but also safe, well-managed, and responsibly operated.
That’s why we’re proud to announce that we have become one of the founding signatories of the UK Sauna Safety Charter. This is a new initiative helping to raise standards and support best practice across the growing UK sauna industry.
Why the Sauna Safety Charter matters
Outdoor sauna culture is growing rapidly across the UK. From lakeside saunas and mobile units to community wellness spaces and contrast therapy experiences, more people than ever are discovering the physical, mental, and social benefits of sauna bathing.
But as the industry grows, so does the importance of:
clear safety standards
well-trained operators
robust operational procedures
consistent customer guidance
responsible sauna management
The UK Sauna Safety Charter has been created to support exactly that.
The Charter provides a voluntary framework that helps sauna operators deliver safe, professional, and high-quality experiences for guests, while helping to build long-term trust in the sector as a whole.
What becoming a founding signatory means to us
Becoming a founding signatory reflects the values that have always sat at the heart of Wild Sauna Club.
From day one, we’ve focused on creating sauna experiences that are:
welcoming
well-run
nature-connected
community-focused
and grounded in safe operational practice
Operating wood-fired outdoor saunas and cold plunge experiences involves real responsibility. Behind every sauna session is a huge amount of preparation, maintenance, safety management, customer guidance, cleaning, training, and operational care.
Signing the Charter is our commitment to continuing to uphold high standards as we grow, and for raising and maintaining standards across our growing industry.
What this looks like in practice
For our guests, this means:
carefully managed sauna environments
trained and supported sauna hosts
clear customer guidance
strong hygiene and maintenance standards
emergency planning and safety procedures
ongoing review of operational practices
It also means recognising that sauna is not just a wellness trend or a quick revenue bolt on. It’s a powerful cultural and wellbeing practice that deserves to be delivered thoughtfully and responsibly.
Raising standards across the UK sauna industry
One of the things we love most about the UK sauna movement is the incredible sense of community within it.
The Charter is not about creating barriers or unnecessary bureaucracy. It’s about helping operators share good practice, support each other, and ensure that the industry grows in a safe and sustainable way.
We’re proud to be taking this stance early on, alongside just a handful of other operators helping to shape the future of sauna culture in the UK.
Sauna, wellbeing & responsibility
At Wild Sauna Club, we see every day how much sauna and cold water immersion can positively impact people’s wellbeing:
reducing stress
improving mood
helping people reconnect with nature
creating social connection
encouraging people to slow down
But creating those experiences safely matters.
That’s why we’re continuing to invest in:
staff training
operational systems
customer education
site safety and maintenance
and delivering great sauna experiences
As the industry develops, we believe good operators have a responsibility to help raise standards for everyone. And there is a lot that should never be overlooked.
Looking ahead
We’re excited to continue supporting the development of the UK Sauna Safety Charter and to play a small part in helping shape the future of safe, responsible sauna culture across the UK.
