What is contrast therapy? The Wild Sauna Club way…

At Wild Sauna Club, we believe wellness thrives at the edges; where heat meets cold, calm meets intensity, and nature meets community. That’s why our contrast therapy sessions blend time in our gorgeous horse-box sauna with exhilarating cold plunges in our Urban Ice Tribe steel baths, watering-can showers, or lakeside cooling. This synergy of hot and cold delivers powerful health benefits, and we bring that directly to you in nature across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

The science behind it
Sauna sessions raise your body temperature, boosting circulation and metabolic activation. Following sauna with cold plunge then constricts blood vessels, flushing toxins and reducing inflammation. Repeat this sequence, and your system is reset, with improved heart health, faster muscular recovery, stress relief, and deeper sleep. Mixing sauna and cold plunge is where the magic happens.

What to expect at a session
We offer 30-minute sessions when we’re alongside open water swimming venues, and 60-minute sessions when it’s our Wild Spa venues – Brook Meadow Holiday Site and Hidden Hideaway Campsite.

Wild Spa sessions kick off in our wood-fired sauna, built into a cozy horsebox. Enjoy a meditative experience in the warmth. Afterwards, ease yourself into a cold plunge bath after using our watering can shower. Then repeat the process. That cycle of heat, cool, repeat, connects you to your body and to others around you, in a ceremony of self-care and wild wellbeing.

There are no phones (except for the odd selfie) allowing you to mentally relax and have an escape from the ordinary.

Sauna for year-round wellness
No matter the temperature outside, our sauna provides year-round wellness opportunities. We get asked all the time “should I sauna in summer?”, “Why would I want to sauna on a hot day?”, “the forecast is rain, will you still be open?” and the answer to, nearly, all weather-based questions is absolutely. Every day is a good sauna day. Contrast therapy thrives without seasonality as a year-round activity.

When it’s heavy rain the sauna feels like a magical escape. When it’s a hot day the sauna helps to take the heat out of the day and strangely feels refreshing. On wild days and cold days the sauna is a retreat. And on still days it feels like a holiday treat.

It would only be severe wind and lightening that would close our sauna and cold plunge.

Join us lakeside
This summer, we’re running 11 weekends at Brook Meadow where we’re bringing curated lakeside wellness: sauna, cold plunge, and spa-style relaxation in a serene lakeside location. It’s a blend of Nordic calm and English pastoral elegance – have you seen our fringed parasols?

We’re also bringing rustic Nordic vibes to Hidden Hideaway Campsite, nestled on their working farm, with views for miles over the Welland Valley.
