Disposal of Hot Ash Procedure
The following policy will apply to any person(s) in charge of the Sauna operation. Inclusive of Employees and Company Owners:
Hot and cooling ashes can be a fire and carbon monoxide hazard. Sufficient time must elapse after a sauna session to let the ash cool. During this time
the door to the stove must remain closed.
Appropriate personal protective equipment will be supplied and must be used. This will consist of protective gloves, a metal shovel to collect the ash, eye
protection and a dust mask.
Ash will be collected in a metal ash bin with a lid that can be sealed to avoid any escape of ash.
At the end of each day cooled ash will be transported home to be composted. This is the safest and most environmentally friendly way to recycle wood ash.
