Disposal of Hot Ash Procedure
The following policy will apply to any person(s) in charge of the Sauna operation. Inclusive of Employees and Company Owners:
- Hot and cooling ashes can be a fire and carbon monoxide hazard. Sufficient time must elapse after a sauna session to let the ash cool. During this time - the door to the stove must remain closed.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment will be supplied and must be used. This will consist of protective gloves, a metal shovel to collect the ash, eye - protection and a dust mask.
- Ash will be collected in a metal ash bin with a lid that can be sealed to avoid any escape of ash.
- At the end of each day cooled ash will be transported home to be composted. This is the safest and most environmentally friendly way to recycle wood ash.
